Passports
and Visas
All
visitors must be in possession of a valid passport. British
and Irish passport holders
do
not require a visa for entry into North Cyprus. Those who
would
prefer
their passport not to be stamped on entry must request a
separate slip
for
an entry form at passport control, which they must keep in
their passport
until
their departure. Other nationalities should contact the
North Cyprus Representative’s
Office
on 020 7631 1930 to check any visa requirements.
Local
Conditions
Please
bear in mind that in North Cyprus life is very different
from that in
mainland
Europe. Obviously, this is part of the charm of your
holiday, but also
means
that you are not likely to fi nd the same sophisticated
standards of public
utilities
you are used to. It is possible that you may experience
power cuts or
water
shortages during your holiday and, since local life must
continue and this
part
of Cyprus is continually under development, it is possible
that there may
be
building work in progress in your chosen resort. Obviously,
such matters are
out
of our control and we cannot take responsibility for them.
Where we do
know
in advance and when this is likely to have a serious effect
on the enjoyment
of
your holiday, we will do our best to inform you in advance.
Transfers
& Local Representatives
You
will be picked up from the airport on arrival by a company
representative
and
transferred to your hotel. Although we do realise that you
will probably be
tired
from your flight, please be patient as your representative
must wait until
all
passengers have left the airport and other passengers will
be dropped off
on
the way to and from your hotel. You will be informed of your
return transfer
time
by your local representative, either in person or in
writing, or a note will be
posted
on your hotel notice board. Transfer time from Ercan Airport
to Kyrenia
is
approximately 45 minutes and to Famagusta 50 minutes.
Health
Requirements
There
are currently no mandatory vaccinations required for North
Cyprus,
although
it is always advisable to contact your GP before traveling.
Deep
Vein Thrombosis: The risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
occurring while
traveling
by air is extremely low, however there are a number of
precautions
you
can take to reduce your risk. Any travel involving prolonged
immobility
can
result in DVT. This occurs when a blood clot forms, usually
in the lower leg.
This
is a serious medical condition and needs treatment with
blood thinning
drugs
or anticoagulants to prevent clots breaking off and causing
significant
illness.
People at risk include those with a history of thrombosis,
those taking
oral
contraceptive pill or who are pregnant, those recently
hospitalised,
smokers,
the obese, some patients with congestive heart failure and
people
with
malignant disease. Dehydration may exacerbate the problem.
Periodic
exercising
of the feet and legs or walking around where feasible is
advised
to
reduce the risk. Elastic stockings may be helpful. Drink
plenty of non-alcoholic
liquids
to prevent dehydration. Those who are believed to be
particularly
prone
are advised to obtain expert medical advice for the journey.
Hotel
Facilities
Although
all of the hotel facilities mentioned in this brochure are
described
in
good faith, it is possible that there may be times when
certain facilities are
not
working, or when they are not available due to adverse
weather conditions,
lack
of demand or other reasons beyond our control. If a facility
should
be
withdrawn on a permanent basis, we shall, of course, do our
utmost to
inform
you as soon as we are able. Many of our hotels have
satellite television
as
indicated in individual descriptions. Generally these
transmissions
are
from Turkish Television stations and therefore we cannot
guarantee that
English
Language channels will be available. Most hotels in North
Cyprus
have
air-conditioning units which can be adjusted individually,
however,
some
hotels have central air-conditioning systems which are
controlled by
the
hotel. In some cases these may not function 24 hours per
day, but may
only
be in operation at certain times of the day. You should also
bear in mind
that
some of the facilities or services mentioned in the hotel
descriptions may
be
available only on payment of an additional fee - this
applies particularly to
activities
such as watersports.
In
North Cyprus we have not used star ratings, since those
provided locally
can
be somewhat erratic.
Currency
The
currency in North Cyprus is Turkish Lira. But Euros,
Sterling and other
foreign
cash can be exchanged at all banks and in many hotels. Travelers
cheques
are accepted in banks and most exchange offices. Credit
cards are
widely
accepted in North Cyprus and commission charges are often
high.
Child
Discounts
All
children under the age of 2 at the time of departure from
the U.K. are
classed
as infants. The charge for infants is £40, however, you may
have to
pay
for meals locally. Please request a cot if one is required;
there may be
a
charge for this locally. Infants are not entitled to their
own seat on the
aircraft.
Children aged from 2-11 are entitled to a reduction of 40%
off the
adult
price, as long as they are sharing a room with two adults,
or in the case
of
apartments, as long as the minimum occupancy is made up of
adults.
Your
Security
In
addition to the financial strength of our parent company.
Cyprus Turkish
Airlines,
your holiday security is also guaranteed by the bond which
we hold
with
the Civil Aviation Authority under ATOL licence No 1000B.
For your
peace
of mind, we are also members of the tour operators’ class
of the Association
of
British Travel Agents, holding ABTA licence No V3370.
Flight
Schedule
Please
note that due to legal requirements introduced by the U.K.
Government
there
are no direct flights to North Cyprus. All flights are via a
Turkish
mainland
airport. It will not usually be necessary to change aircraft
in Turkey.
Flights
are operated by Cyprus Turkish Airlines and normally use
737-800 or
Airbus
A310 aircraft.
Please
bear in mind that all flight timings are subject to approval
by the relevant
authorities
and final timings should be taken from your flight tickets.
Actual
flying times are approximately four and a half hours to
Turkey and then
a
short journey to Ercan, North Cyprus.
Conduct
Please
note that the airline reserves the right to
refuse
passage to anyone who they consider to be
unfit
to travel for whatever reason, whether it be
due
to the influence of drink or drugs or to violent or
abusive
behavior. Equally, any client who infringes
local
laws or regulations, or those set down by the
hotel
or apartments, or who disturbs other holidaymakers
through
bad behavior, is liable to be evicted
from
their accommodation. In the above cases, no
compensation
will be payable and if it is necessary
for
him or her to fi nd alternative accommodation or
travel
arrangements, the client will be responsible for
paying
their own accommodation and/or fl ight costs.
Accommodation
is booked for those clients named
on
the booking form only and no accommodation
may
be sublet, nor may any additional persons be
accommodated.
Long
Stay Arrangements
During
winter months, North Cyprus enjoys a mild
climate
with minimal rainfall. This, combined with the
low
cost of living and, in particular, the favourable
rates
which we are able to secure from the hotels
during
this period, means that a holiday abroad
can
be enjoyed for little more than the cost of
winter
heating at home. There are substantial savings
to
be made on stays of four, fi ve or six weeks
at
selected hotels - Flights will be from London
Stanstead
or London Heathrow - Riverside and
Espri
may offer a six week holiday at £599 - this
is
only an indication for departures and six week
s/c
stay during low season. For an accurate and on
the
spot quotation please call our reservation team
on
0845 128 4216.
Self-Catering
Holidays
Where
accommodation is offered on a self-catering
basis,
and is described as having a ‘kitchenette’, this
will
usually consist of a sink, fridge, gas or electric
rings,
and sometimes, but not always, an oven
and/or
grill. Although the facilities and equipment
provided
will always be suffi cient for making light
meals,
please bear in mind that, with a few exceptions,
self-catering
apartments are unlikely to be as
well
equipped as your own kitchen at home!
Special
requests
If
you have any special requests, such as vegetarian
meals,
wheelchair assistance or a particular type of
room,
please inform us at the time of booking. Although
we
shall do our utmost to comply with these
requests,
unfortunately this cannot be guaranteed.
Pricing
All
hotels and apartments are priced on the basis
that
there will be 2 persons sharing a room. All two bedroom
apartments
or villas are priced on the basis
that
there will be four persons sharing. In all cases the
minimum
occupancy is indicated in the hotel description.
All
supplements are per person per night.
Insurance
To
ensure your peace of mind on holiday, we can arrange
travel
insurance for you at the time of booking.
Please
note that insurance premiums will be automatically
added
to your invoice unless you have taken
alternative
holiday insurance which provides greater
or
comparable cover, in which case please state the
name
of your insurer. Exclusions apply.
