Kantara Castle |
| The word “kantara” means “arch” in
Arabic. The easternmost of the three castles on the Five
Finger Mountains, the Kantara castle is in fact perched
upon an arch, about 700 metres above sea level and can be
reached via Iskele, commanding impressive views of the

St. Andreas Monastery |

Ruins of Ayios Philon

| Close to the site of ancient Karpasia,
are the ruins of the 10th century Ayios Philon church.
Philon was the saint who converted the people of Karpaz to
Christianity in the 4th century. Built on the foundations
of former Hellenistic and Roman periods, this early 5th
