Denizkizi and Denizkizi Royal

The denizkizi, 'Mermaid' hotel, and the Denizkizi Royal are situated approximately five miles west of Kyrenia, in the small village of Alsancak, overlooking what is arguably the most attractive sandy beach in the area. The more established Denizkizi Hotel has 57 rooms each with a balcony facing either the sea or the mountains, air-conditioning, minibar, telephone and television.

The newer, luxuries Denizkizi Royal has 50 airconditioned rooms, all decorated and furnished to extremely high standards. The rooms have the same facilities as the older hotel and each has a balcony facing the sea.

The hotels are family run, the owner, Niyazi something of a local character, and his son, Ahmet, who also owns one of the best known kebab restaurants in the area. The hotel restaurants serves both international cuisine and local specialties, such as the delicious Cypriot roast lamb cooked in a deep well. There is also a snack bar, situated next to the beach, which is reached via a flight of steps leading down from the hotel.

Water-sports are available in high season, although these are under the management of a separate company. The large swimming pool is probably one of the best in Kyrenia. Sun loungers and shades are available on the surrounding, sunbathing terraces, and drinks are served from the pool bar. Other facilities include a casino, sauna and plunge pool and self service guest laundry.
